Life at Selvitelle
There is no programme at Selvitelle, and nothing you have to take part in.
But because this is our home as well as your place to stay, you may sometimes find yourself invited to join in with something that is happening here.
Bake some bread, share a meal, pick something from the garden or, if you're here at the right time of year, join us among the olive trees.
These are not organised activities. They are simply part of life at Selvitelle.
Bread & Pizza
Bread is a big part of life at Selvitelle.
We bake our own bread using traditional methods and, whenever possible, long fermentation and natural sourdough starter.
If you enjoy being in the kitchen, you are welcome to join us. We can make bread together, prepare pizza or simply talk about the process while something is baking in the oven.
No formal course, no fixed schedule. Just good bread, good food and some time together.
Food & Sharing
Good food is one of the simplest ways to bring people together.
Depending on the season and what is happening at Selvitelle, you may be able to join us for an Apericena with local wine and antipasti, or share a meal around the table.
Sometimes it is a relaxed evening, sometimes a Sunday lunch. What we serve depends largely on what is available from our garden and from local producers.
It is less about a fixed menu and more about enjoying good food together.
From the Garden
A lot of what we eat at Selvitelle starts here.
We grow vegetables, herbs and fruit on the land, keep chickens and produce our own extra virgin olive oil from the olive trees around the property.
Depending on the season, you may find something growing in the garden, fruit ready to pick or something being prepared for the pantry.
You are welcome to have a look, ask questions or simply enjoy the fact that much of what ends up on your plate has grown right here.
The Olive Harvest
For a few weeks each autumn, life at Selvitelle revolves around the olive harvest.
We harvest our olives by hand, usually starting in the first weeks of October, and take them to the mill to be pressed into our own extra virgin olive oil.
If you happen to stay with us during the harvest, you are welcome to join us among the olive trees.
It is physical work, but it is also one of the most enjoyable times of the year — especially when the day's work ends and everyone sits down together.
Nothing is planned
The nicest thing about staying at Selvitelle may be that you don't have to do anything at all.
You can spend the day exploring Cilento, sit under an olive tree with a book, enjoy your private terrace or simply slow down and do nothing.
Joining us is always optional. There is no schedule and no expectation.
Selvitelle is your place to stay. How you spend your time here is entirely up to you.
